  1. I feel silly now. No I'm not up to date. I'm sure that will fix my problem. Thank you again for your help!
  2. Ah weird... it appears that everything is installed in the sound library manager but producer packs aren't even listed as a category. How do I update the factory content? Reinstall sound library?
  3. It's the Boys Noize producer pack. Quite a few other packs too that I haven't seen in Logic as well.
  4. I recently discovered that GarageBand iOS has some pretty cool Producer packs which contain various loops. Is there anyway to download or transfer these packs to the Logic Pro X loop library? Thank you
  5. Greetings, I apologize in advance if this question has been asked before. Tried searching but couldn't find an exact answer... In my setup I have 2 keyboards/players who need to switch sounds independently. I don't see how this would work with the typical next patch, previous patch type setup I've used in the past for a single keyboard. Is program change the answer? I've never used program change midi before but from what I understand you can use this to switch to a certain tone. So the 8 buttons on my Akai mpk249 could each be a "preset" for specific sounds within the patch list correct? Would this allow each player to switch to there sounds independently? Hope that makes sense. Thank you
  6. Greetings, I am trying to create a tape flange effect like the one illustrated in this tutorial video. The tape Flanging effect from what I understand is created by making a duplicate track of the source material and altering its speed and pitch so it wavers (like if you were to put your hand on on a spinning tape and alter its speed). In the tutorial this is done by using elastic audio (pro tools) and enabling varispeed on the track where you then draw in a varying project tempo for the track to adhere to. This is changing the timing and pitch of the audio. In Logic I’ve tried a similar method using the speed flex mode and drawing in tempo fluctuations with curved lines between the nodes. This however is not not yielding the same effect as shown in the video. Any ideas?
  7. Thank you for the response David. Haven't had a chance to try the suggested solution as I deleted the erroneous file but haven't encountered it again. Take folder glitchiness is still continuing. Do you think I should continue working/tracking within this project or should I be taking steps to transfer everything to a new project? If so how would I go about doing this?
  8. Hey guys, I'm currently experiencing some strange behavior with a logic project that I've been working with for quite some time. The first problem occurred while trying to expand/collapse a take folder. The arrow had no effect and wouldn't let me collapse the take folder. Also while recording takes I was unable to undo the recording, instead it seemed to have no effect and made the take region look kind of strange. The second problem I've encountered happened after I recorded a region of audio. Upon playback the audio suddenly cuts but I can still see the full waveform in the region. Once I open the file editor I can see that it is indeed cut, appearing differently than it does on the arrange window. Audio is cutting at 22 3 3 1 Photo of this attached Things I have tried: Restarted my computer, saved a duplicate and opened it (same behavior) opened up a new Logic session (everything functions normally) Notes: I'm not using any 3rd party plugins in this project.. however I recently downloaded a few software synth plugins to try but have never opened those in this project. Not sure if there's any connection there since it doesn't affect other projects. Should I be concerned about continuing to work within this project? It's a very important track that I can't risk losing, but I still need to track more audio. Any solutions or ideas? Thank you so much
  9. Hello everyone, I have a question about programming midi with regard to pitch. I am trying to achieve a "free, non fixed" type of pitch programming where I can slide one note into the other, similar to a theremin. Using the the glide function on the synth itself doesn't provide the effect I need because the timing and use of "slides" I want are more random. I basically want to program midi in a way that mimics the sound of playing a synthesizer with a ribbon controller. I'm having some luck using the midi draw with pitch bend in the piano roll but it's rather tedious. Is there a better way? Thanks
  10. Thanks danyg! Checking the "Include Volume Pan Automation" box retains the fader levels set in the mixer even though there is no volume automation on the track! The wording of that box is misleading... but that works. The only problem I see now is that the volume of the new file is drastically less than it originally was since the faders on the source tracks were obviously set well below 0db to sit within my mix. This is fine within the context of my own project but I'm preparing these tracks to be sent to a mix engineer. Will it be strange for him to see these files that I've summed with super low volumes in comparison to the rest of my files which retain there original volume from the time of recording, regardless of fader position? I understand that he'll be turning down all the tracks while mixing just like I had so the low volume tracks will sit just fine but I'm just curious if it'll be strange to see this discrepancy. Thanks
  11. Greetings Logic users! I am having a issue when I try and bounce in place multiple regions spread across different tracks. These regions are all creating a single pad sound so I would like to sum them into one stereo file, retaining the volume balance set by the faders in the mixer. However when I select the regions and bounce them in place the resulting stereo file doesn't keep the volumes or balance of the sound, it sounds as if all of the faders were turned back up to 0db. So my question is really on how to combine multiple regions from different tracks into a single file that retains the same blend. I know that I could just solo all the tracks and bounce the project but is there a better way? Thanks
  12. I am currently preparing my song for a mix engineer. I am using the Export all Tracks as Audio Files function and have noticed that I am unable to keep mono tracks in mono when the "include Volume/Pan Automation" box is checked. I would leave it unchecked but my project has quite a bit volume automation unfortunately... What are my options? Should I just bounce the tracks that have volume automation using the bnc function when the stereo output is unlinked into 2 mono outputs? Then I could grab the rendered file and drag it back into my project and delete the old track? My engineer would really like to keep mono files in mono if possible so if anyone has any thoughts please share them! Thanks guys
  13. Cool I think I get it now! You're the best David! So here is an explanation of what was confusing me in case anyone has a similar mental obstruction lol. In my scenario I programmed a pattern of quarter notes whose velocity was identical. I had the filter closed and the arrows of the ADSR via Vel slider together in the top position so I could really hear the effect of the filter opening. I was confused when I then lowered the bottom arrow, away from the top arrow as to why the filter wasn't opening as far. I imagined that the top arrow in its peak position should prevent this from happening. The issue (I think) is that by lowering the bottom arrow or splitting them was that I added a velocity range. Since my midi notes weren't at the peak velocity of 127 they were now dulled by my wider range. When I raised the midi velocity to 127 pulling down the bottom arrow had no effect. Sound right David?
  14. Greetings! I am having issues wrapping my head around the two arrowed sliders in the ES1. Specifically the ADSR via velocity that effects the filter and those in the router (Int via wheel and Int via velocity). So first lets start with the ADSR and see if I get it: From what I understand the distance between the arrows dictates the range of the cutoff modulation. So when using a velocity sensitive midi controller soft notes would open the filter less than hard ones. However changing the distance of the arrows not only changes the cutoff response and and range to variances in velocity but to normal (velocity consistent) playing as well. So even though it's labeled ADSR via velocity it does more than only affecting cutoff with velocity. Should I just think of the bottom arrow as the starting place for the filter and the top one as the ending place? I get even more confused when I take into account the relationship of the ADSR envelope... I'm coming from the ES E and ES P synths that were a lot easier for me to understand. How is the ES1 different? Now comes the dual arrowed sliders labeled Int via wheel and Int via velocity. Are they similar in function to the ADSR via velocity? When setting the LFO intensity it seems like the bottom arrow dictates the starting or base amount of modulation without moving the wheel and the top arrow sets the max value. is that right? I don't understand the Mod Envelope sliders at all haha. Maybe someone could elaborate... Sorry for the lengthy post. If anyone could offer some guidance or resources (other then the manual, I've already read it to no end) it would be greatly appreciated! Thanks
