  1. Good to know others are dealing with this. I completely uninstalled 10.7.7 for the same reason (and a few other bugs), only to find the same occuring in 10.7.8.
  2. Thanks David, maybe I don't notice it as much on the individual tracks because while the peaks may vary in places throughout the project, the top peaks are either consistent or perhaps controlled by a limiter. The summed stereo output is a totally different animal. I'll try these suggestions later tonight.
  3. Thank you for responding. In the past, I have found the culprit most often to be the drums, toms specifically, so I would suppose that's due to the round robin assignments- makes sense. I have not experienced this in other melody or harmony based software instruments. Despite R.R's, there is consistency levels. I'll have to use the google to decipher what free running modulation LFOs and free running oscillators are. Anyway, I'll freeze the tracks and go from there.
  4. I have a requirement of producing audio stems for a song sans effects on the stereo bus. In addition, the stereo bus must not clip when playing the project. Without adjusting any track levels, the same song part (intro for instance) may clip @ +2dB. After restarting, it may clip by +0.3dB. A 3rd play thru shows +1.2dB. Can someone explain why there would be a fluctuation?
  5. About 4 or 5 times, Logic has reset itself in the last few days, asking me whether I want to "Enable Complete Features", etc. Then it attempts to download the sound library, moved to an external drive 3 years ago. I have followed the instructions exactly to the link below to no avail. I first tried to download the reverbs as recommended but, when I get to step #3) "Relocate Sound Library", it is greyed out in Logic. I then started over, downloading and installing the "Essential Sound Library, which Logic placed in the "Library/Application Support/Logic" folder on my mbp. However, I still can't relocate because after choosing "Relocate Sound Library", both my internal hard drive and the external target drive are greyed out. I would go through the immense hassle of downloading everything again BUT, it is not an option since my internal hard drive is only 250gb. There simply isn't space. Any suggestions?
  6. Hey Dave, remind me what you do when you move a track in Tracks View the but the change is not reflected in the mixer?
  7. duh! Don't work with Logic's effects as mich as 3rd party effects and they always have a dedicated on/off. Thanks
  8. Obviously there is a way to do this but I have a portion of a backing track that has background vocal bleed. This section of the song is stripped down so, I need to turn on the expander at this point and then turn it off when the instruments are reintroduced. But, in the track automation, there is no parameter for the on/off. Can this be done?
  9. The main question is whether the hardware / software manufacturer has updated the drivers to the 64bit protocol, in which case their support page can inform you. If so, the totally ridiculous number of required adapters is the way to go. Apple did not end support for firewire per se, they just stopped including the ports on the computers which deincentivized the hardware mfgs. to continue support in most cases.
  10. I have a recurring issues in Logic X. After recording MIDI, the notes in the region are shifted forward– before the beat (say, from 20,1,1,30 to 19,4,4,176). Very noticeable and early. After moving to the correct position, if I overdub the region both new notes and previously corrected notes are again shifted forward. No Quantize, MIDI Delay, etc. are turned on. Any ideas?
  11. Hey Dave thanks for the help, I was up against a deadline so I saved acopy of the project and then reverted to a previous backup. Something strange happened when I bip'd the regions. Certain sections were then a transposed a half tone down. Doesn't make sense, no transpose, etc. is used on the track. Anyway, the old regions are fine now. On to the next aggravation. Posting soon...
  12. I remember when Logic used to be such a joy. I've unmuted the take and now and part of the audio file is totally out of tune by a half step!!! This is aggravating
  13. nvm, had to turn the flex tool off
  14. I've just recently gone back to recording live guitar as opposed to software instruments. And I've run into a problem attempting to unmute part of a take region. Any ideas?
