  1. Brilliant - I must've set that up for something previously and had assumed it would default to cover the necessary range. Thank you! Rich
  2. Hi everyone, I've been experiencing an issue with the "Convert Regions To New Sampler Track" command, where selecting multiple regions and using using the command results in a new sampler track being created with only one region (the first selected), rather than all the regions being considered. I started noticing the issue (though don't know if this was related) when I altered the default instrument of the EXS24 to a different instrument ("Piano"); I have since set the default as "No Instrument" and am still having the issue. I've included a video of me going through the motions here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Fe2GFg29rl4&feature=youtu.be Steps: 0:01 - Select Regions 0:02 - Use "Convert Regions to New Sampler Track" (Control+E) 0:05 - Having made sure that "Regions" is selected rather than "Transients", click OK 0:07 - New track is created with only one region used, rather than all selected (note that only one region is now muted) 0:16 - Opened EXS24 to show that only one region is being used by new instrument. Any thoughts? Rich
  3. Hi Triplets - thanks so much for the quick reply! Good advice - would you say there any specific go-to brands or is it not that much of an issue? Rich
  4. Hi there and Merry Christmas! I'm thinking of buying a new external hard drive since I'm experiencing considerable lag when loading Kontakt instruments from my current WD My Passport. Does anyone have any advice on specific external HDs that would suit: > Macbook Pro (early 2011) > Preferably USB connection > 7200 RPM > Preferably 1TB storage. All feedback and comments appreciated! Rich
  5. Hey Eric - very shortly after posting this (within 10 seconds!) my graphics card of my laptop died and I've just had the whole logic board replaced! Warning to others in future to look out for that....! Cheers for the suggestion! Rich
  6. Hi there, As of this evening (having used Logic Pro successfully all day) I've started experiencing a display issue where my monitor is splitting into two halves, as if everything's been rolled a few inches to the left. I've included a picture of the screen and a video can be found here - https://youtu.be/4klX9SWTg2I - showing my cursor scrolling from left to right, from one screen partition to the other. Any ideas on what's causing this and how to fix it? Logic Pro X v10.1.1 Macbook Pro OS X 10.9.5 Thanks for your time, Rich
  7. Another really basic way of matching up multiple tracks would be to: > use Audacity (freeware) > import all tracks > for one track at a time... >> go to Effect>Amplify >> set the 'New Peak Amplitude' to 0dbs >> "OK" > when all tracks are done you can "export multiple" to have multiple tracks where the peak amplitudes would be equal, so all would have a more standardised volume. I typically do this with some video game sound effects though haven't had much experience doing that with full tracks. Again, all feedback appreciated from other users!
  8. Hey Rockhound - below's my take on a simple methodology, though I'd definitely welcome other feedback on best practice. It's also the first time I've tried to explain this so apologies if my terminology isn't 100% accurate: In general this would be a 'mastering' process. What I'd probably recommend for each track is to: > Mix the track so that, at its 'loudest', it has a -6dbs RMS level, which can be assessed through LPX's own Multi-meter plug-in, amongst other things (RMS, "root mean squared", should give an indication of average volume, as opposed to peak which is just 'the loudest moment'). > Master the track to a push it up to 0dbs; a quick way to just push up the perceived volume would be though a plug-in such as LPX's own Adaptive Limiter. THIS IS A VERY BASIC OPTION, and is a poor replacement for an actual mastering process, of which there is much written and much to learn, but for the sake of a quick fix to have comparative audio levels this would be, at the very least, a starting point. It may also be worth looking into the 'loudness wars' and YouTube's most recent activity in that area when looking at comparative volumes. Good luck, and I welcome your (and other user's) feedback! Rich
  9. Ah fair enough - strip silence does still allow you to choose the pre-attack time (i.e. it'd cut the region before the transient), though I can appreciate that may not be completely consistent, so you'd still need to go over the regions again to check everything was as you'd like it. Batch processing in something like Sample Manager may be a good shout for you if you're only looking to add the fades to the ends of the files, though I don't know too much about that!
  10. Huh... I've got nothing to add I'm afraid! Sounds like a graphics bug rather than a 'performance' one... wouldn't know where to start with that one! Rich
  11. There's a solution to the "soul destroying to then BIP and then have to cut them up again" problem that I've just realised - if you BIP each track, then do a strip silence (ctrl + x) on each of them then, as long as you've set the settings right there, that should cut up *most* of the hits for you - you might have to do a few individual snips on some of the faster hits, but that should do a lot of the work for you. Of course it'd be much easier if the aforementioned 'convert to new audio file with fades etc.' option was there, so good plan to request the feature!
  12. Hey AMD I've just tried a few things and it appears that when you're selecting two (or more) MIDI regions in two (or more) separate tracks, then view them in piano roll, any notes added with either pencil or brush tool through the piano roll screen will just be added to the 'top' region - regardless of what track you have selected, or which region you selected first (see attached screenshot). Let me know if that isn't the case for anyone else! Cheers, Rich Multiple MIDI regions selected, new notes added via Piano Roll, always going to 'top' most region.
  13. Are those tracks still playing audio? Other than the flashing is anything else 'not working properly'? Rich
  14. Hum... is it possible to get a screenshot and possibly an audio sample of the problem section?
