  1. I started this last year, and while I can't say it's yet quite finished, it's much closer...! "Jingle Bells" in a minor key with throat singing, double-fuzz bass and more, more or less. Andy Metcalfe on bass and fragmented guitar... https://www.patreon.com/posts/95006070 P.S. the song plays from my Patreon page but there's no fee for listening. It's my miserable gift to the world! Ho ho ho!
  2. Really nice piece. Lovely, moody etc. Were the strings Logic's own?
  3. I did a quick search in this thread but didn't find anything about an issue I'm having... I'm only given one Character option with the Mastering Assistant, Clean, with the rest only aaialble with Apple Silicon. Except I'm on an M1 Mac Mini. Anyone else have this issue, or/and is it a user-error on my part?
  4. Gorgeous piece of music. I'll check out your tips later, as well... Thanks for posting this.
  5. Vangelis and Bernard Herrmann to start things off... nice! I only got into John Carpenter in recent years - films and the scores - but both Assault On Precinct 13 and Escape From New York have amazing synthy themes. That said, I'm listening to the main theme from "Assault..." as I write this. It's so simplistic and not entirely impressive in a certain way, but slotted into the film from whence etc, and yow!
  6. Hi all - very naive question, but... I've just grabbed a new SSD for use as man backup for all my audio - Logic, Pro Tools etc. ChatAI suggests using EXFAT format. I've no idea what that is, but shall I go with it? (And of course please feel free to move this to another part of the forum is this isn't the right place...)
  7. (Sorry - I've added a redundant comment, but can't delete, so you get a weak edit instead!)
  8. I don't think my answer will much help, but... I remember having zero luck trying to sync my 707. If I'm remembering correctly, it only syncs in Song mode, for one thing, so I couldn't use it in Pattern mode. I loved the 707 - this was the second I owned - but I let mine go partly cos I never got it to work with MIDI. I grabbed a TR-6s and have been clam-happy ever since! I wish you luck. My tech skills are always on the lacking side, with User Error my typical starting point. Let's hope you get somewhere better with the 707.
  9. I've used Emvoice on a track, writing lyrics and melody specifically for the AI robot to sing. Aside from some pronunciation issues (she struggled with the word "maggots"), the song turned out fine. I wasn't trying to pretend it was a human voice; I was just seeing what I could get away with. The track appeared on an album that also featured several female vocalists doing everything from lead vocals to very processed ambient sounds, so the Emvoice track fit right in/didn't stand out. And I know the original post is to do more specifically with a certain commercial brand of pop music, but in the wake of Robbie Robertson's death, I'm all the more certain that humans will always resonate to the sound of other humans being human. If AI can generate its own version of The Band, well, I'll be happy to give it three minutes of curious ear time. Meanwhile...
  10. I'm guessing the OP doesn't have one! I gave mine away to a hipster kid who was excited to explore the Before Times Experience, or something. I do wish I'd kept it, kinda, but I doubt I'd not actually use it. Or maybe I would - I'd start writing 5 page letters to my formerly-teenage penpals...
  11. Thanks for chiming in, David! Bass player is Andy Metcalfe, one of my heroes. He played with Robyn Hitchcock for years. Such a melodic player. The keyboards in the second verse, meanwhile, are from Colin Moulding. He's known more as a bass player, ex-XTC. Colin's also singing harmonies here. Donald Ross Skinner on guitar... another 80s/90s guru for me. He was Julian Cope's producer/guitarist back when. A crazy line-up of players on this track - kinda freaks me out!
  12. Hi all -I posted an early mix of this song a while back. Very happy to have it finally finished and in the real world. Here's the video we've made. Maybe this will appeal to a specific demographic, as it features members of XTC, The Soft Boys and Julian Cope's band - 80s-into-90s popsters with a touch of solid psych... but the song itself is pretty classic pop writing, far more "normal" than is typical from me. Hope you enjoy! https://glidemagazine.com/294265/video-premiere-anton-barbeau-captures-bygone-era-of-music-with-infectious-pysch-pop-anthem-waiting-on-the-radio/
  13. The recording sessions book lists "chimes," which I'm taking to mean tubular bells. The bells are doubling the Leslie'd guitar and the guitar carries on the line past where the bells/chimes end...
