Steve Jobs 1955 - 2011. Rest In Peace.

Recommended Posts

The story that I heard about Jobs, and found most astounding, was that of his visiting a professor, at Stanford, and being exposed to research, of the way that children learned: by pointing and touching; which led to the development to the mouse, and eventually the touch pad; astutely observing and applying fundamental knowledge! An extraordinary mastermind and innovative inventor.

It was expected but still really sad.

RIP

Steve will always be in people's minds, hearts and of course computers, phones, mp3 players and tablets.

Made my life happier. Every time I turn on my Macs and iDevices is a moment of pleasure.

Insanely Great pleasure!

Apple is from now on a different company.

Thanks Steve!

"I’m truly saddened to learn of Steve Jobs’ death. Melinda and I extend our sincere condolences to his family and friends, and to everyone Steve has touched through his work.

Steve and I first met nearly 30 years ago, and have been colleagues, competitors and friends over the course of more than half our lives. The world rarely sees someone who has had the profound impact Steve has had, the effects of which will be felt for many generations to come. For those of us lucky enough to get to work with him, it’s been an insanely great honor. I will miss Steve immensely."

Bill Gates

"Michelle and I are saddened to learn of the passing of Steve Jobs. Steve was among the greatest of American innovators - brave enough to think differently, bold enough to believe he could change the world, and talented enough to do it.

By building one of the planet's most successful companies from his garage, he exemplified the spirit of American ingenuity. By making computers personal and putting the internet in our pockets, he made the information revolution not only accessible, but intuitive and fun. And by turning his talents to storytelling, he has brought joy to millions of children and grownups alike. Steve was fond of saying that he lived every day like it was his last. Because he did, he transformed our lives, redefined entire industries, and achieved one of the rarest feats in human history: he changed the way each of us sees the world.

The world has lost a visionary. And there may be no greater tribute to Steve's success than the fact that much of the world learned of his passing on a device he invented. Michelle and I send our thoughts and prayers to Steve's wife Laurene, his family, and all those who loved him."

Barack Obama

"Today the world lost a visionary leader, the technology industry lost an iconic legend and I lost a friend and fellow founder,” said Michael Dell, chief executive and founder of Dell Inc., the big computer maker. “The legacy of Steve Jobs will be remembered for generations to come. My thoughts and prayers go out to his family and to the Apple team."

Michael Dell

"Steve, thank you for being a mentor and a friend. Thanks for showing that what you build can change the world. I will miss you."

Mark Zuckerberg

He was absolute Legend. You could say that the person who he was actually defines the term 'Legend'.

All of us who enjoy using Apple products have him to thank for that enjoyment. He changed lives - For the better.

I think I'm about to shed a gentle tear.

Three Apples that changed the world: The one that Eve ate, the one that fell on Newton's head, and the one that Steve built.

My small tribute on my Twitter and YouTube (whenever I can get it to cooperate) pages.

(Normally, the design in the background is a solid color that changes from time to time, so for the people that follow me, they'll get what I did.)

I'd do the same for my website, if it were up and running yet, but I'm trying to figure out where to transfer from MobileMe (OT obviously).

I think the story in the article, as well as the first comment, go to show just how vast and widespread Jobs' influence was. Here we are, building careers or enjoying beloved hobbies using devices Jobs brought to us, and on another side of the spectrum, children and adults simply learning to function and/or be self-sufficient in society with identical tools.

Simply amazing.

"Day after day,

Alone on a hill,

The man with the foolish grin is keeping perfectly still

But nobody wants to know him,

They can see that he's just a fool,

And he never gives an answer,

But the fool on the hill,

Sees the sun going down,

And the eyes in his head,

See the world spinning 'round.

Well on the way,

Head in a cloud,

The man of a thousand voices talking perfectly loud

But nobody ever hears him,

or the sound he appears to make,

and he never seems to notice,

But the fool on the hill,

Sees the sun going down,

And the eyes in his head,

See the world spinning 'round.

And nobody seems to like him,

they can tell what he wants to do,

and he never shows his feelings,

But the fool on the hill,

Sees the sun going down,

And the eyes in his head,

See the world spinning 'round.

Ooh, ooh,

Round and round and round.

And he never listens to them,

He knows that they're the fools

They don't like him,

The fool on the hill

Sees the sun going down,

And the eyes in his head,

See the world spinning 'round.

Ooh,

Round and round and round"

He was such an inspiration to many people. He started out really small but his heart was too big that he never stopped striving to make his life better. Eventually, everything paid off really well for him thus making a big difference in the techno world and everbody's lives. May you find rest whereever you are, Steve!
