kalhan
I'm using an M-Audio Axiom49 MIDI controller with LogicPro 9 and I can't change the instruments on my instrument track using the Program Change function on the Axiom. I've tried inserting a program change in the list (manually, using my mouse and keyboard) but this too has no effect. Am I doing something wrong? David Nahmani
Which instrument are you using? Not all of them respond to program changes (in fact many don't). If you want you could program some Performance Settings (Toward the bottom of Working With Channel Strip Configurations).
kalhan
i'm using the default virtual instruments that come with logic... it seems odd not to be able to include some sort of a program change option for VIs that come WITH the software... am i doing something wrong? Check out the Next/Previous Plug-In Setting or EXS Instrument commands. J.
fader8
am i doing something wrong? Yes. You didn't read the section of the manual that David linked you to. It clearly explains how to set up your instrument channel presets to respond to program changes.

You're just assuming that a program change will change the plug-in setting, or the patch on the virtual instrument, but it's just not so.
