Although not strictly a Logic-only issue - I think Logic uses OS X/QuickTime algorithms, I would like better SRC algorithms available to Logic.
Doing SRC is a third-party app - even one that is 1/7 the cost of Logic, but gives better results, is stil a PITA.
I can't believe this hasn't already been requested and isn't near the top of the list!
Suggestions:
• Mac OS X gets the ability to use 3rd party algorithms.
• Apple licences iZotope's 64-bit SRC, or
• Logicgoes it alone with a new, higher-quality SRC . . .
Some SRC comparisons here:

| Agreed. This isn't so much of a feature request, as it is an out-right requirement for a Pro app. Logic's (& Waveburner's) SRC needs to meet, or exceed, the quality of Barbabatch, iZotope, and others. |

Yes, but it's not in the 'New Feature Requests' database.
I don't get it.
From the other thread:

Which AU is responsible for Sample Rate Conversion?
If that were the case then it would presumnably be a trivial matter to use some (better) 3rd party algorithm instead.
Also, Logic's SRC produces the same results as SoundTrack Pro and QuickTime 7 - which would indicate that is probably is a shared resource. AU, though, hmm, not so sure . . .
So when people do need to go from 96K to 48K - or indeed between 44.1K and 48K, are they happy using Logic?
Were these same people happy using Logic 5 - whose SRC was much, much worse than it is now?

Sorry to duplicate.
Any way to merge these two threads? |

I can't merge threads.
The reason it hasn't been added is because people complain about Logic's SRC, not realizing that Logic doesn't even use its own SRC algos anymore, but uses OS X's Audio Unit SRC instead, which sounds much better.
This Audio Unit doesn't have a graphical interface, so you won't see it.

OK
I accept that Logic 7's SRC is better than Logic 6 but I would also suggest it's still not good enough, (my frame of reference is Adobe's £99 Audition on the PC, or Spark XL, now discontinued, on the Mac.)
Whether the algorithm is internal or external to Logic is largely irrelevant.
Logic needs better SRC.
Some app's - DSPQuattro, for example - have moved to their owm algorithms for precisely this reason. |

OK, I guess you're right. I'll add the feature request.

| Has anyone tested with Logic 8? Has anything changed here? If it's an OS component, maybe something in Leopard? I am running 8 with Leopard--does anyone have a tool that would measure the performance easily? (i.e. sample file to convert and run FFTs on...) |
