McLaughlin is cool no matter what he plays on. I still like his older sound running through a boogie or marshall stack cranked up with lots of sustain and distortion.

We used Logic Studio for recording the latest record from David Usher (http://davidusher.com) called "Wake Up And Say Goodbye". I, Jonathan Gallivan, co-produced the record along with David Usher and Kevin Young.
The album was also mixed and mastered by Fred St-Gelais in Montréal using Logic Pro 8.
Outside of Canada, the record can be found on various iTunes stores.

T-Pain mentioned that he produced his entire first album in Logic Pro and after Akon heard the album he was so impressed that he went out and bought Logic Pro. Check out the profile straight from the horses mouth (http://www.apple.com/pro/profiles/tpain)

For whatever it's worth, U2 has put up a bunch of behind the scenes videos on their official website of them recording their new album (No Line on the Horizon).
In several of these clips Logic 8 is being used (prominently displayed) on their MacBook's. One of the clips even has The Edge using what appears to be Garageband while rigging up some sounds for his guitar.
Anyway... check 'em out, kinda cool to watch none the less:

There's also some shots of ProTools in use as well, so you may need to shield your eyes occasionally!
