Anyone else having problems with control surfaces in L8?

i can't get any recognized in L8

deleted prefs.etc.. all looks fine in AMS.

i hear you, but i use the latest bundles enough to keep em around. definitely a wacky company, they are.

Ha! No, just finished the install, then it had to scan 308 plug-ins. Only 3 failed! woohoo!

 

OK, I left my Logic Control and XT's turned off and started Logic 8. Opened Pefs-Control Surfaces-Setup. Then I turned them on one at a time and each one popped up in turn. Pretty much same as they always did.

 

So, no problems here. I did have to manually add my Novation RemoteSL25 though. Which surface do you have?

something funny's going on with my install, really don't want to have to do a whole os restore

if it helps, the control surfaces (Mcu pro, tranzport) are sending midi notes to logic, not being seen as a control surface. Also they do show up as ports in:project settings>synchronization>MTC destination selection menu..

any ideas? anyone?

Tranzport woke right up and needed no setup.

My Yamaha DM1000 needed to be setup, but appears to be working much better than before.

my system is rock solid aside from this seemingly isolated situation. any ideas what could be blinding L8 to my controllers? they all work in Logic 7. I'm getting pretty frustrated here.

When you select Install from the menu, is the MCU in the list?

 

If so, try manually adding it. Then set the ports for it manually too. Let us know if that worked.

Yeh, I was just gonna start a thread on this exact subject....I have a Logic Control and I NEED that to work, I hate using the mouse etc.....

That's the whole issue,

no controllers show up when i select install, or scan all. nothing comes up, which is why i'm so confused. I started to think maybe it's a usb midi issue, but now i'm not sure after hearing that someone's tranzport is working.

 

and by the way, thanks to everyone for taking the time out to help.

for the DM1000 I had to go to the controller setup page and add manually, then setup the actual Yamaha ports since it's USB. Then add another channel strip only version for ch 9-16.

but the yamaha showed up on the list as a controller right?

i'm not sure what you mean by "add it manually" if not.

then click NEW and INSTALL it pulls up a list and there is the Yamaha DM1000.

 

You can also scan all models and it should find it. If not then you have to add it from the list manually

but your answer is the exac† problem i'm experiencing. When i click new>install, or scan all, there are no control surfaces on the list. it doesn't even seem like it scans anything.

Right, it wouldn't show or scan anything if the plugin bundle files aren't in the right folders. I think that's your problem. Let me look and see where 8 is storing that stuff. hang on.

In the Finder, applications folder, control-click on the Logic Pro app and select Show contents. Look in the Contents folder. It should look like this?

so frustrating, just cant get logic 8 to see my logic control units, tried re install and nothing.

 

even re checked the midi side of things, all work great in logic 7.

you shouldn't have to move anything.

 

I would recommend reinstalling, uncheck everything except the top box for the app. It will only take a few minutes.

If the MCU pro comes with a driver intall, it might also have installed a bundle file somewhere in the Application support folders. But you should at least see the models shown above listed in your Install dialog.

There is no driver install for the mcu pro, and, oddly enought my contents folder matches yours. maybe i copy the plugins somewhere else?

i've already tried deleting receipts and reinstalling btw

Have you repaired permissions on your drive?

 

When I installed L8 today, I did my standard routine I do with all Apples Pro apps. Repair permissions, install software, repair permissions, reinstall the latest Pro App Runtime, then repair permissions. Then launch the app. Maybe that's overkill, but it's been workin for me.

I'm like you, i did everything you said except for the pro app support reinstall.

ugh..i hate twilight zone problems like this.

 

 

at least i've learned how reliant i've become on control surfaces.

i downloaded and installed the driver for my Tranzport, and somehow, this caused logic to properly scan for control surfaces, all is working fine now.
