The day has finally arrived, I can get my new mac tower.
But can anyone help with which one.
The question is Quad core or 8 core, (600 quid difference)
Also, what would be better, a quad core with a faster processor.
Or an 8 core with the basic spec??
Any help would be much appreciated.
Cheers,

Get the 8-core with the basic specs. You're going to benefit from the extra RAM possibilities. ________________________ Logic Pro 9 Master Pro

Thanks for that Triplets.
I thought that was going to be the answer but as my old G5 is ok I thought I could save a bit of cash.
Would you advise going through Apple for RAM or is something like Crucial ok?
Cheers,

Ram from Apple is too expensive, go after market. ________________________ Logic Pro 9 Master Pro

I hope you can wait a month or so - new ones should be out by then (pure speculation here but based on historical trends), giving you more choices and better prices for current generation.
I'm holding out for new models, still managing with my G5.
RAM - Crucial Memory is good, there are others as well. ________________________ Dual 2.4 quad core, 8 Gb RAM, 10.6.4, 9.1.1, Ensemble

If you can wait you could be lucky and do what i did. Wait until the day the new mac pro's came out went into the store and asked about the "old" models (which were the new ones the day before) and you should be able to get a good discount, because they are trying to get the old stock out the door. ________________________ Logic 8.0.2 - Mac Pro 2x 2.8 GHz Quad-Core Intel Xeon - OS 10.5.8- 16 GB RAM - Motu 828 Mk3 - Midisport 8x8 - Alesis 3630 - Emes Quartz - DS Prophet 08 - x0xb0x |
