The Los Angeles Logic Pro Users Group invites composer and Logic Pro virtuoso Peter Schwartz.
Peter Schwartz is a veteran of the NYC music scene. He has worked as session keyboardist, synth programmer, orchestral arranger, and musical director for a veritable Who's Who of musical luminaries: Enya, Cher, Madonna, Mariah Carey, David Bowie, Pet Shop Boys, N'SYNC, Hanson, ...and many more! Peter is well-known in the dance music world as a key figure in the sound of reknowned DJ/Producers David Morales, Frankie Knuckles, and Shep Pettitbone's legendary remixes. He has recorded tracks and written arrangements for a wide variety of producers, including Phil Ramone and Josh Deutsch.
Peter has worked as a product specialist for the Synclavier, and as a synthesizer design consultant and sound programmer for Korg's M1, Wavestation, Prophecy, their flagship OASYS, and many other synths. He is currently making his foray into the world of film scoring, having recently completed work for Disney and Mattel, not to mention having scored dozens of independent films. He currently lives in NY with his wife Sharon and two beloved dogs. For fun and relaxation he's studying bass clarinet which he likens to "a tunable didjeridoo, as well as a mean source of square waves".
Among the many topics Peter may discuss are:
Environment Programming
› ideas of what you can do in the environment
› overview of various objects (transformers, buttons, faders, cable switchers, instruments, multi-instruments)
› useful examples (such as capslock keyboard-driven mute groups, articulation switchers, etc.)
Score Editor
› how to use the score editor as though it were Finale/Sibelius (Peter will show his latest orchestration project)
› review of key commands for speeding up score markup
› various tips and tricks
Analog Synth Programming
› how the properties of sound relate to synth building blocks
› modulation basics
› why all synths are essentially the same (in terms of architecture)
› show differences between the sound of different synths
MIDI Mockups of Orchestral Music
› how to increase realism
› using multiple sample libraries to achieve realism
› EXS24-specific techniques
› various tips and tricks
Recording Delay
› why it's important to calibrate your system
› how to do it
