RMX working fine...

BUT I'm having problems with the standard sonalksis 315 and 517 MONO plugins. They will not validate!

Everything is fine here, but I installed massive and the update at the same time. Logic crashed after the first scan. Restarted and now all is fine.

X.9 updates

Postby toysun » Thu Mar 15, 2007 8:42 pm

Wow, you all are fearless!

I am extremely cautious about X.9 updates before a new major update to the OS. Does anyone remember how bad 10.3.9 was, compared to 10.3.8? It's a real tedious process to downgrade a system, and I've noticed that Apple kind of goes lame duck with the last upgrade before the birth of the new animal... i.e. Leopard.

Dang people, slow down! If it ain't broke, etc.... Make music not upgrades!

John

Guys, for me this kind of raises a parallel issue. What i ALWAYS do before any upgrade is clone my set up to a back up drive JUST before i upgrade. If the upgrade gives me problems i can restore from the back up and no harm no foul. Any of us NOT cloning regularly, regardless of upgrades, are just plain nuts. And i'm not speaking from the position of someone who can afford a spare drive in an enclosure. I just can't see that any of us can afford NOT to do this. If our main drive crashed for any reason, most of us would GLADLY pay good money to have things recovered and set to right again. It just makes sense. Economic and emotional

There are some serious problems with this update. Check this thread:

http://discussions.apple.com/thread.jsp ... 6&tstart=0

Note that Waves warns against updating:

"Mac OS 10.4.9 is not supported and causes Waves plug-ins to malfunction.
Do not install Mac OS 10.4.9 until further notice."

Hi!
I know this has nothing to do with the au validation but,

After the update my eject button doesn't work any more.
I have to go in to iTunes and goto Controls > Ejec Disc(cmd+E) to open or close the Drive.
My keyboard is working fine in every other way, so I don't think it's the keyboard.

Does anyone have any suggestions?

Thanks!!!

Apple has induced a bit of latency to the Eject button... Try holding it down half a second or so!

I don't know all the possible permutations of drives used with Macintosh systems, but maybe there's a drive firmware reason why there's a need to have a delay between unmounting the CD/DVD drive and actually extracting the CD/DVD out. --Kent

I can't believe it... Sometimes the key worked and sometimes it did not, so I took my keyboard apart and cleaned the contacts and thought about applying an external switch... This is the sort of improvement I could abandon.

Main problem seems to be iLok users (Waves, etc.), as it messes with the PACE drivers.

Download and install the combo update instead of using the system Software Update. http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=304821 (a bit down on the page).

-Waves recommends you wait upgrading to 10.4.9 (no problems here with Waves after upgrading as I don't use iLok)

-Sonalksis old Essentials Bundle plug-ins *won't validate*, but the Mk2 plug-ins will validate fine. Confirmed here.

-Some reports of Digitalfishphones (Blockfish, etc.) not validating. Works fine here though.

-The annoying Eject button latency of 0,5 second (I too took my keyboard apart and cleaned it)

Anything else?

One Upgrade derserves another

Postby Zicky » Sat May 19, 2007 8:11 am

I had just upgraded to 10.4.9, and my stylus, and Trilogy stopped working, but once I upgraded to the latest versions, everything was fine.....

so if you're having problems with third party plug ins, try upgrading to the latest versions....

Hope that helps.....
